As a proud partner, we are delighted to announce that LIFE EMERALD | ATMOSYS was a runner-up in the "Circular Economy & Quality of Life" category at the European LIFE Awards 2025, held during the EU Green Week in Brussels.
This honour highlights the value of LIFE EMERALD (Emissions ModElling and FoRecasting of Air quality in IreLanD) and its contribution to cleaner air and healthier lives across Ireland through air quality modelling and forecasting.
It builds on the legacy of LIFE ATMOSYS, the award-winning air quality modelling system first developed and applied in Belgium as part of the LIFE ATMOSYS project, which also received a Best LIFE Project Award back in 2015.
Since then, our modelling tools, which have been continuously extended and improved along the way, have been applied in Małopolska (Poland), Slovakia, Croatia and Hungary, and are currently being used in Bucharest (Romania) for preparation of their updated air quality plan.
Special thanks to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Ireland, the project coordinator for their excellence work and their continued trust in our models and to all the project partners (DECC, ASI, UCC, and HSE) and to everyone who has supported the LIFE EMERALD journey.
